In 1967, a twenty year old David Bowie asked Gerald Fearnley, a bandmate's brother, to shoot the cover images for his first album. The self titled LP, released on June 1, 1967 failed to chart.  But Bowie's time would come, and Gerald Fearnley's portraits of the artist as a young man, published here in their entirety for the first time, offer a unique glimpse of an icon in the making.
